Hippodrome Holiday Art Exhibit 2011

The Hippodrome Theatre is pleased to announce that the photography of local artists Lorenka Campos, Ani Collier and Larry Santucci will be on display at the Hippodrome Art Gallery for our 2011 Holiday Show. The show will be in conjunction with This Wonderful Life, on stage November 25 – December 23 and A Christmas Carol, on stage November 26 – December 17

On Saturday, December 17, 8PM at the Phillips Center, dance onstage, dine on gourmet delights catered by Blue Water Bay and sip on complimentary sparkling champagne and wine.

Retro Rockets

Put on your blue suede shoes and grab Peggy Sue! Gainesville’s own Retro Rocekts will be performing hits from the 50’s & 60’s. The group features Mike O’Guin on bass, Jeff Davis drummer and on lead guitar and singer, Mike Horton who has opened for Leonard Cohen and Dave Mason.

Veterans for Peace 25th Annual Winter Solstice Celebration

at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Gainesville, FL
Veterans for Peace will host its 25th Annual “Silver” Winter Solstice Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 8 P.M. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4225 N.W. 34th St. Suggested $10 to 30 dollar donation. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Hyde and Zeke’s Records, 402 NW 10th Avenue. The event will feature music from Drums of Peace, John Chambers, Lauren Robinson, David Beede, Kevin O’Sullivan, Scrub Hill Billies, Talking Stick, Quartermoon, the Heavenly Semi-Angels and others.

Children’s Coat Drive
Saturday, Dec 17 10:00am
at Stein Mart, Gainesville, FL
The Gainesville Woman’s Club and its partner Stein Mart will collect as many warm children’s coats as possible and then make them avaulable to Idylwild Elementary School.
Stein Mart will serve as the collection point and you may bring new or gently used coats during store hours. For further inforamtion call the Gainesville Woman’s Club at 376-3901.
