The Gainesville Ballet Theatre,presents “The Little Match Girl”. Adapted from the story by Hans Christian Andersen, this original Ballet has grown to be a well-anticipated and celebrated Gainesville tradition.  As one of our community’s largest holiday productions, the Ballet features a cast of over 60 performers, all local talent, consisting of our own Gainesville Ballet Theatre dancers.

31st Annual Bamboo Sale Friday, Dec 21 9:00am  atKanapaha Botanical Gardens. Every winter, Kanapaha holds an Annual Winter Bamboo Sale. In early December, Kanapaha issues a descriptive sales/availability listing of bamboos that are being offered during December, January and February on a dug-to-order basis. This year 18 types are offered; most are clumping forms but a few are running bamboos-including the elegant black bamboo.
Family Treasures Holiday Sale Friday, Dec 21 10:00am  atFamily Treasures Thrift Shop. The Family Treasures Thrift Shop is hosting a holiday sale on Dec. 21st and 22nd. Everything in the store, except for Gator Wear, furniture and fine jewelry, will be marked down by 50%. Children are welcome to come for holiday juice and cookies and are encouraged to play in the children’s corner as Santa makes his appearance throughout the day.
Winter Break Art Camp Friday, Dec 21 9:00am  to 12:00pm  atHarn Museum of Art. Children ages 7 to 10 will create fun, holiday-themed art. Lunch supervision is provided between sessions. $30 per child, per session (Harn members pay $25).
Warm Clothing Drive Friday, Dec 21 10:00am  atStein Mart. The Gainesville Woman’s Club and its partner Stein Mart are collecting as much warm clothing for children and adults as possible and then make the clothing available to area shelters for distribution to those in need. Stein Mart will serve as the collection point and you may bring new or gently used coats and sweaters to Stein Mart during store hours
A Christmas Carol Saturday, Dec 22 2:00pm atHippodrome Theatre. Enjoy the yuletide spirit with the 35th annual production of the holiday classic “A Christmas Carol”. The entire family will enjoy this feel-good holiday story as they follow Scrooge (played by Rusty Salling for the 23rd consecutive year) through his troubled past, present and future With dazzling special effects and a timeless message of goodwill, charity and redemption, this show is sure to leave you and your family with an infectious Christmas spirit that you’ll never forget.
The Loco Bizarre Sunday, Dec 23 12:00pm to 9:00pm at Dragonfly Graphics. From noon to nine, local vendors set up in and outside our shop, selling their holiday goods. We will be screen printing LIVE our Gainesville Nostalgia shirts! There will be outdoor entertainment and even a fire. It’s a free event and a great way to Get last minute gifts while supporting your community. This is a great event!!
