The Doris Bardon Community Cultural Center Gainesville Artist Cindy Capehart will display over sixty works of art which encompass her artistic journey from elementary school to the present. The work of this exciting artist will be on display January 11-28, 2013 at The Doris Bardon Community Cultural Center 716 North Main Street Gainesville,FL. A reception will be held January 25, 7-10pm, during Artwalk and will feature talented pianist Thomas Royal playing jazz selections on The Doris’s grand piano.

Enter a world of battling knights, dancing gypsies and mystifying magicians during the 27th Annual Hoggetowne Medieval Faire, held Jan. 26-27 and Feb. 1-3 at the Alachua County Fairgrounds. Cheer on royal knights as they joust on the tournament field, or wander through the marketplace, where hundreds of artisans sell their medieval wares. Eight stages of entertainment featuring Celtic musicians, hilarious comedians and unbelievable magicians will bring medieval merriment to the entire family.

UFPA Gala: Big Fun on the Bayou

The annual event is UFPA’s largest fundraiser of the year and helps fund all of its programs, including outreach. Signature cocktails and a gourmet dinner will be provided by Blue Water Bay, and decorations will be supplied by Keith Watson Productions. Music, dancing, a silent auction and much more will make for a memorable evening with a Bayou theme.

Book Signing At The Swamp Restaurant

James Sheehan will debut his third legal thriller, The Lawyer’s Lawyer, at a book signing at The Swamp Restaurant which, along with its creator Ron DeFilippo, were highlighted throughout the book. Sheehan was a Florida trial lawyer for 30 plus years and is presently a law professor at Stetson University college of Law and the Director of the Tampa Law Center. Books will be available for purchase at The Swamp.

Souper Fun Sunday

Souper Fun Sunday is Gainesville’s premier soup tasting competition. Our 2013 event will feature soups from over 30 local restaurants and caterers, local celebrity judges, and an awards ceremony for Best Soups, People’s Choice and Best Decorated Table. This is a great time!!
