St. Baldrick’s at UF – Head Shaving Event!

The Freshman Leadership Council invites you to come witness students and Gainesville residents publicly shave their heads bald to stand in solidarity with children battling cancer at the second annual St. Baldrick’s event. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a childhood cancer charity funding the most promising research to help find cures for kids with cancer. There’s still time to sign-up as a shavee, volunteer and donate to this cause. There will be food, entertainment and lots of head shaving!

The program opens with ‘Latin American Symphonette’, then travels to another part of the world with the romance of doomed Celtic lovers ‘Tristan and Isolde’ played out to the lush music of Wagner. The evening finale is Stravinsky’s outrageously dramatic ‘Rite of Spring’. A stunning evening with the internationally acclaimed dancers of Dance Alive National.

Prepare for a night of great food, music, and fun at the Spirit of Charity Gala. The Spirit of Charity Gala will be March 16, 2013 at the University of Florida Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Florida. Cocktails and silent auction begin at 6:00 pm. Dinner will be provided and there will be live music. 4th annual Family Arts Fest for Youth Art Month includes adult and youth vendors, live entertainment, food, a Kidzone including bounce houses, face-painting, games and more. Local businesses, schools, and organizations will be participating with free children’s activities. There will also be a raffle and silent auction for many local gift certificates, original art, gift baskets and passes to Disney!

All proceeds go to provide scholarships and create art programs for youth in our community.
