Millhopper Montessori Middle School Sixth Shakespeare Festival

Friday, Feb 21 1:00 to 2:30pm  Thomas Center Spanish Court

This year marks the sixth festival and features scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and an abridged version of “Shakespeare Unshackled,” written by Ron Fink and John Heath. Most of the titles of Shakespeare’s plays are mentioned, and there are dozens of quotations including extended passages from Othello and Romeo and Juliet. It’s a perfect introduction for students and audiences to the real thing! Love this!!!

Wolf to Woof: The Story of Dogs Friday, Feb 21 7:00pm

“Wolf to Woof” is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition ever created on the history, biology and evolution of dogs. The exhibit sniffs out the facts on the unique role of dogs in human societies and what makes the human/dog relationship so unique. It uses the familiarity and love of these four-legged friends to explore science and biological concepts.

African Butterflies at Florida Museum Friday, Feb 21 10:00 to 5:00pm

Visit the Florida Museum “Butterfly Rainforest” exhibit from Feb. 15 through March 31 to experience large numbers of spectacular, exotic butterflies from Africa. Enjoy daily butterfly releases at 2 p.m. UF students with a valid Gator 1 card receive free admission.

KD Promotions LLC, A Proud Partner of VH1 Save The Music Foundation, presents Restore The Music Festival. Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Downtown, Gainesville, Florida. There will be 150 bands and multiple stages.We are accepting submissions from Musicians, Vendors, Sponsors/Advertisers, and Volunteers. Restore The Music Festival is open to All Unsigned Musicians With Original Music, and all genres of music. A portion of proceeds will benefit VH1 Save The Music Foundation. Sounds like a blast!!!!

Florida Invitational Step Show (FISS) Saturday, Feb 22 7:00-10:00pm

FISS is the largest student run invitational step show on the east coast. Organized by the UF Black Student Union, it is one of the premiere collegiate events of the south. In 9 rounds of powerful stepping, dance, and music, deep-rooted in African American history, the NPHC organizations will face off center stage in a match that is sure to defy tradition and captivate the audience.
