Discover portraits of Florida’s early years at the Matheson Museum’s exhibition entitled “A Penny for Your Thoughts.” The gallery of the Matheson Museum will open at 7pm, when participants will have their last opportunity to see the temporary exhibition. This event will feature presentations by Dr. Mark V. Barrow and Murray Laurie who wrote the book, “A Penny for Your Thoughts” which was the basis for the exhibition. A tour of the exhibition will be provided by local historian Sharon Bauer.


Making African Jewelry and designing your own iro (African Wrap around skirt)

Hogtown Homegrown Cooking Demo

Stefanie Samara Hamblen, owner and creator of Hogtown HomeGrown, will demonstrate simple recipes using fresh, local ingredients. Hamblen has cooked since she could reach the stove and devoured cookbooks since she could sound out the words. Her free monthly newsletter, Hogtown HomeGrown, features recipes based on local and seasonal food. During her “Beat the Blue Box: Fast and Tasty Homemade Food” demonstrations she’ll cook up tasty samples. Registration requested. Limited to 40 participants.
